Kusal Mendis slammed a quickfire half-century to propel Sri Lanka to 152-9 in a tri-series Twenty20 international against India on Monday.

Colombo, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Mar, 2018 ) :Kusal Mendis slammed a quickfire half-century to propel Sri Lanka to 152-9 in a tri-series Twenty20 international against India on Monday.

The opener hit three fours and as many sixes in his 38-ball knock after India won the toss and opted to bowl first at the R. Premadasa stadium. The match was reduced to 19-overs a side after the start was delayed by about an hour due to rains and a wet outfield.

Mendis though got little support from the other batsmen as the hosts kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Paceman Shardul Thakur was the best bowler on show, bagging four wickets for 27 runs off his four overs.

Upcoming off-spinner Washington Sundar (2/21) took two wickets as the India bowlers fought back after leaking runs in the first 10 overs. Earlier India made one change to the side that won against Bangladesh on Thursday, bringing in batsman K.L.

Rahul in place of Rishabh Pant. Sri Lanka picked Suranga Lakmal in place of captain Dinesh Chandimal who has been suspended for two games due to an over-rate offence. Both India and Sri Lanka have won and lost a game each in the tournament out of the two matches they have played so far.

The Indians lost to Sri Lanka while the hosts went down to Bangladesh in a thriller in the previous game on Saturday.
